Opens Friday, October 8 @Ritz

Opening Friday is IT'S KIND OF A FUNNY STORY, a new teen heart-comedy that centers on an anxious young man who is not very happy. He voluntarily checks himself into a psychiatric ward, only to discover that a renovation project has the teen floor closed, forcing him to stay with the adult inmates. The film, an adaptation of Ned Vizzini's best-seller, tells of the five days the boy spends in this psychiatric hospital and the strange characters he meets.

One of these members of the Breakfast Club of the Unwell is a sweater wearing Zach Galifianakis. Galifianakis lights up the screen when he appears, acting like a mentor to the young man and injecting some of his unique comedy style along the way. Here he offers bad advice and misguidance as well as affection and compassion.

JR Jones of the Chicago Reader sums up the tone of the film perfectly, saying that IT'S KIND OF A FUNNY STORY "inhabits that wonderful and elusive space between comedy and drama where genuine human behavior resides." If you're looking for hilarious or heartfelt, this is the movie for you. We're excited to premiere this film at the Ritz on Friday. Don't miss it.
