James Bond's got NOTHING on the world's most unstoppable (and outrageous) superthief! Another great visual piece by Italian genre film pioneer Mario Bava, this De Laurentiis-produced film is a faithful adaptation of the popular European comic about the anti-hero master criminal Diabolik. John Phillip Law (BARBARELLA) stars as the elusive criminal, and luscious euro-babe Marisa Mell as his sidekick Ava Kent who lives with Diabolik in an underground hideout overflowing with futuristic '60s gadgets. Iconic French actor Michel Piccoli plays the flustered police inspector and British comedian Terry Thomas stars as a bumbling government official. Almost overdosing on intense '60s color and style, the film moves through comic-style adventures with considerable European flair and perfectly captures the atmosphere of the original material and the time.
