Midnight Madness tonight at S. Lamar!

DISTRICT 9 & IN THE LOOP
Midnight screenings tonight at Alamo South Lamar!
DISTRICT 9 tickets here
IN THE LOOP tickets here

Two of the films we've been most excited about this Summer open on the same day- tomorrow! But you can see them tonight!

"Ho. Ly. Shit...DISTRICT 9 is a landmark film that will heretofore be spoken of alongside such films as ALIENS, THE THING and 2001."
Massawyrm, Ain't It Cool News

"A genuinely original science fiction film that grabs you immediately, not letting go until the final shot."
Hollywood Reporter

Thirty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa's District 9 as the world's nations argued over what to do with them. Now, patience over the alien situation has run out. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens' welfare, but very interested in their weapons.

"IN THE LOOP is incisive, chastening, and very nearly as good a political farce as Robert Altman's TANNER '88. One hates to say this, but IN THE LOOP is good in an almost American way."
Johnathan Romney, The Independent (UK)

"A Dr. Strangelove-level examination of all the foolishness, gossip and insecurities that actually make the world run."
Kaye Rich, CinemaBlend.com

A number of heavy dramas- including LIONS FOR LAMBS and IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH- have addressed the wars in the Middle East, but IN THE LOOP takes a different approach: comedy. Though the American president and the British prime minister are itching to attack, a top U.S. general (James Gandolfini) and the British Secretary of State for International Development (Tom Hollander) believe that's the wrong decision. However, a small miscommunication has the two powers ready to go to war, and it's up to the British pol to stop things before they get started.
